In March of 2005, Ken Arnold announced he was an Exploratory candidate for the U.S. Congress in the 8th Congressional District. This announcement came after his Exploratory Candidacy in 2003 for this office. Mr. Arnold, in his frustrations with the incumbent Republican Congressman doing nothing on our Healthcare Crises (among other things) was previously within a "hairsbreadth" of running against him in late 2003. His "Letter to 8th District Republican Leaders" eloquently outlined why there was a serious need for change -- and why fellow Republicans were exposed to having the Democrats take the seat away in the Fall of 2004 if nothing was done. Sadly, Ken Arnold's words were prophetic. Phil Crane was defeated by Democrat Melissa Bean. But Mr. Arnold's causes he outlined in his October, 2003 letter to fellow Republicans ring as true now as they did then. And Mr. Arnold, according to some, is "the right man for the right job" of taking on Melissa Bean as the Republican Candidate for the 8th Congressional District seat she now has captured. Not only because of his lengthy and successful political experience -- but for what he can do in public service in the areas that most affect our country today...Healthcare and Retirement Income Plan reform. Mr. Arnold, when elected to the U.S. Congress, is likely the only professional in the fields of healthcare and retirement plan management and consulting in all of Congress! It can come none too soon... Ken Arnold welcomes all good citizens and Republicans to provide him feedback on what they personally feel are the "burning issues of the 8th District". SOMEBODY of Mr. Arnold's professional background and experience must surely step forward in our District to help solve the issues plaguing our country in the areas of healthcare and retirement plans. In the 2006 Election cycle, that calling was Mr. Arnold's. He ran but unfortunately lost in a six way Primary race. This year (2007), Mr. Arnold is again running for this seat since nothing has been done on his five, "platform issues" and time is running out to solve some of them. On thing is for certain in Mr. Arnold's mind: We must NOT have a Republican nominee who fails to be 100% behind reform here in our State of Illinois. And we MUST have a candidate in 2008 against Melissa Bean that can demonstrate substance, creative and original thinking, and true solution finding to the serious problems that bedevil our Congressional District and our Nation. He KNOWS that he well fits that bill - he well demonstrated that when he ran in the 2006 Election cycle. To make this run requires campaign funding. And your immediate financial contributions (up to $2,300 per person) are immediately needed to get our message out of "working smarter - not larger" when it comes to the Federal government. Please go to Ken Arnold's campaign website to donate on line or, better yet, just send your contribution to: The Strong Leadership with Arnold Committee, 2034 Liberty, Gurnee, IL 60031-6305. Thank you. Ken's Political Background and Experience:Ken Arnold has over 30 years of Republican Party experience. He started at age 12 joining the LaPorte County Teen-Age Republican Club (TARS). He rose thru its ranks as an officer and then two-term Chairman of the organization. Here Ken is with his political idol, and mentor, Senator Barry M. Goldwater at a National Republican Leadership Conference (age 17):
After High School, Ken joined the Indiana University College Republicans on the very first day of class! He worked on numerous campaigns including ones that elected Senators Richard Lugar and Dan Quail in Indiana. Between his Sophomore and Junior years, Ken Arnold developed and participated as the very first intern that the Indiana State Republican Headquarters ever had. He also was the campaign manager for his mother's successful races for County Assessor and County Council during that time using the skills learned in his internship and other venues. After college, Ken joined a number of Republican organizations as a contributor and member. But for a few years, he was also busy starting up Discover Credit Card in Riverwoods, Illinois. (Now having over 10,000 employees - several thousand right here in Lake County). He worked there for 13 years in various Human Resource capacities including directing the Employee Benefits function for Morgan Stanley, Dean Witter & Co. (a fortune 100 firm). During the later part of his work with Morgan Stanley, Dean Witter & Co., Ken double upped his efforts in the Party. He was elected a Warren Twp. Republican Precinct Committeeman and then became a successful, two-term Chairman of the organization. During his second term, Mr. Arnold and his Warren Twp. Republicans were successful in the 2000 Presidential election in delivering more votes for George Bush than any other township in Lake County, Illinois!
Ken Arnold then, in 2002, was drafted to become the 3rd Vice-Chairman of the Lake County Republican Party and served in this capacity until Spring, 2004. He has functioned as Co-Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee of the Party and has brought forward many innovative ideas that have assisted the Party in being an even more potent force in Lake County. One of his ideas (a voter communications sponsored by the respective Republican Congressman) was adopted by the State Party in 2002 for use throughout the State. Mr. Arnold, in addition to having been an officer of the County Republican Party, also has served as Treasurer and Co-Founder of the Republican Assembly of Lake County (RALC). This organization represents conservative Republicans who fully support the platform of the Republican National Party and traditional values of our Party and Nation. Lastly, Mr. Arnold is the current Secretary of the Warren Township Republican Organization and as a member of this organization's leadership team, again helped deliver in November, 2004, more Republican/George Bush votes than any other township in Lake County.
